Ember II was commissioned for the Galaxy Casino in Macau in 2011. The mobile is made from stainless steel and hand dyed silk, and is companion piece to Ember I. I dyed the silk many different shades of red, from rich plumb through cadmium red and soft yellows with just a blush of pink. After polishing the mobile 'leaves' were hooked into place, the links closed with some gentle persuasion from a hammer.
